BRENT Peters’ Bacup and Rossendale Borough will host Parkgate in an FA Vase second qualifying round replay on Wednesday after an eight-goal thriller on Saturday.

Borough were in front after only eight minutes in Rotherham as Artjoms Butorins netted his first goal of the season on the rebound after Shane Birtles’ initial effort had been blocked by the keeper.

They were 2-0 ahead inside 23 minutes as Luke Morgan released Matty Bryan, whose low shot was deflected in.

Parkgate pulled a goal back only five minutes later but Borough restored their two-goal lead just after the half hour mark as Daniel Cocks was felled in the box.

The club captain, making his return from injury, sent the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Borough had chances to go 4-1 up before half time but could not take them and Parkgate were right back in the game two minutes after the interval as they netted to make it 3-2.

Peters’ visitors looked to have confirmed victory in the 66th minute as Aaron Kirk’s effort found the bottom corner.

But Parkgate made it 4-3 with 15 minutes to go and they would then find an equaliser with only five minutes left as George Morley smashed his shot into the corner.

That saw the game go into extra time and Borough substitute Marcus Calvert tested the Parkgate keeper on more than one occasion.

Lee Oldham then fired over from close range, before there were heated scenes in the second period of extra time following a challenge on Morgan.

But neither side could find a winner and the two clubs will meet again in East Lancashire on Wednesday at 8pm.

The replay means that Borough’s North West Counties Premier Division home game against Glossop North End, which had been scheduled for Wednesday, has been postponed.
