AFC Darwen secured their second win of the season at Crilly Park.
After victory in the North West Counties Challenge Cup last month, Darwen claimed a First Division triumph on Saturday after going ahead through Bobby Langford in the sixth minute.
Ryan Steele made it 2-0 three minutes later and Stephen Lee added a third in the 66th minute, before a late Atherton consolation.
