RAMSBOTTOM United are celebrating their biggest result in their history after a thumping of Winsford United saw them crowned as North West Counties League Premier Division champions this afternoon.
The Rams, who knew that a win would see them crowned and promoted into the Evo-Stik League First Division North for their first time in their history, flew out of the blocks in front of a bumper crowd of 546 at the Riverside Stadium.
And any nerves were soon forgotten as they went 2-0 up inside the first five minutes thanks to goals from Lee Gaskell and Grant Spencer.
Ian Flannery put them into dreamland with a third goal on 18 minutes before Winsford pulled a goal back on 35 minutes.
But it was 4-1 at the break thanks to Jon Robinson - and when he scored his second and Rammy's fifth three minutes into the second period it was as good as game over despite a consolation for Winsford.
