PROLIFIC striker Jon Robinson bagged a crucial brace as league leaders Ramsbottom United beat East Lancashire rivals Barnoldwick Town in last night’s top of the table clash at the Silentnight Stadium.

The Rams maintained their position at the summit of the North West Counties Premier Division after their impressive victory – although second-placed Runcorn Town are still just three points behind after they won 3-0 at Alsager Town.

Barlick were trailing Ramsbottom by nine points before the game as they also seek promotion, but their chances have now been dealt a huge blow due to Robinson’s double.

The striker netted in both halves, opening the scoring two minutes before half-time and doubling the Rams lead shortly into the second period.
