This was definitely a game of two halves, with Rishton playing up a steep hill, going 4-0 down in the first 20 minutes.

The game had started well for Rishton with some good passing moves and quite a bit of possession in the Nelson half.

This was to be short lived, as on their first venture into the Rishton half, Nelson scored their first goal.

Nelson then went on to dominate the next 15 minutes, and plunder a further 3 goals.

Rishton looked to be down and out, but in a now rare attack, they were awarded an indirect free kick from which they scored.

Lewis Hall fired the free kick in at the keeper, who spilled it and Jake Holdsworth was on hand to tap in the goal.

Nelson were still using the slope to their advantage and soon had their 5th shortly before half time.

The second half was a different story with Rishton dominating possession, but meeting stubborn resistance from the Nelson defence.

Rishton did pull a goal back, with Bradley Campbell scoring directly from a free kick.

Although Rishton had lots of possession they never really threatened the Nelson goal, and Nelson for their part never really looked interested in pushing men forward.
