Rishton travelled through to Barrowford and on arrival found out that no ref was allocated to the game and that a parent helper from Barrowford would officiate.

This aside the game was always going to be a tough one and that is exactly what it was.

The first 10 minutes were very even with both teams having chances.

advertisementRishton's best chance came Billy Hargreaves and Ryan Cothliff, both had good efforts saved by the keeper.

Barrowford went 1 up in the 12 th minute when the Rishton allowed the Barrowford attack to run through and finish from close range.

Very little else happened this half with Rishton playing below the level expected of them.

One or two things were discussed at half time with the boys and immediately they looked much more positive.

In the 2nd minute man of the match Keiran Higham had a fine shot saved by the keeper, the keeper in all honesty was playing well and it lookedlike he was going to be the difference between the two teams!

Rishton levelled in the 4th minute of the 2nd half, when Keiran Higham and Brad Morris played a superb 1-2 with each other which resulted in Brad scoring a superb goal.

The confidence was now showing and Rishton started to dictate the game.

Disaster though, Rishton's concentration went and allowed Barrowford to regain the lead in the 6th minute.

Rishton however did not let this get to them and immediately went down the park and equalised. Keiran Higham who was having a superb game won the ball in midfield and put in a cracking ball for Ryan Cothliff who put his shot beyond the keeper.

This was no more than Rishton deserved and the best was yet to come.

Rishton took the lead in the 14th minute when once again Keiran and Ryan worked well together which resulted in Ryan scoring what was going to be the winner.

In fairness Barrowford did come back at Rishton but fine work by Billy Hargreaves and Jack Wolstenholme kept the attack at bay.

In the final minute Sean Kelly, in goals, pulled off a superb save and touched the shot over the bar to ensure Rishton picked up 3 valuable points.

The parent helper who reffed the game was excellent.

His use of common sense was very evident, as was his fairness.

All in all a good day at the office.
