Barnoldswick Town have completed the double signing of striker Chris Simpson and creative midfielder Harry Thompson and both may make their debuts in tomorrow’s North West Counties League Challenge Cup tie at Chadderton.

Simpson, 28, has joined the club after spells at Silsden and Thackley.

He was the North West Counties Premier Division Player of the Year in 2010 and Thompson, 23, has now recovered from injury after playing last season in the North East Counties Premier Division at Thackley.

Barlick joint manager Ben Hall said: “We are happy to get these two over the line and they will both prove to be valuable signings between now and the end of April.

“We have tried to sign Simmy before, we know he has the ability to make a positive contribution in the run in.

“He scores goals, leads the line very well and is adaptable too. He can play in midfield as well so it was a no-brainer to get him in.

“Harry was a player we tried to sign in the summer but he got injured and he’s recently got himself back fit. He is a very creative player who’s direct and he will fit into our style of play no problem.

“We need cover for the run-in, last season showed that, and these two lads have been good enough to help us and they have told us when we need them they will be happy to help which is excellent news.”
