GARRY Flitcroft faces a dugout battle with another ex-Blackburn Rovers star tomorrow – and the Chorley boss is hoping fans of his old club will turn out in force to support the cash strapped Magpies in their hour of need.

Flitcroft’s Evo-Stik League Premier Division outfit entertain a Nantwich Town side bossed by one time Rovers striker Jimmy Quinn and with Chorley facing a chronic cash crisis he is hoping for a bumper crowd, especially with Blackburn inactive ahead of their Sunday game at Sunderland.

The Chorley chief said: “It’s been well documented that the club has some serious financial problems.

“With Rovers away at Sunderland this Sunday, if any fans are at a loose end on Saturday and want an excuse to get out of the Christmas shopping then we’d make them very welcome.

“I know Plymouth Argyle made a similar appeal earlier in the season and they got fans coming from as far away as Brighton to show their support for the club.

“If we could pull in a crowd of 1,000-plus game it would be a major help at a very difficult time for the club.”
