CLITHEROE end a week of turmoil with an Evo-Stik League First Division North trip to Salford City tomorrow – but there is confusion surrounding who will lead them from the dugout at Moor Lane.

Boss Carl Garner quit as manager earlier in the week and Blues chairman Anne Barker appointed ex-manager Chris Stammers until the end of the season.

But that deal was terminated before a ball had been kicked yesterday morning.

Garner’s assistant Lee Sculpher also left the club this week meaning the Blues are short-handed on the coaching front.

Garner, himself the former Clitheroe chairman, agreed to stay on at Shawbridge in what was effectively a director of football role and could lead the team tomorrow in what is a tough game.

The Blues have not won since January 2 and are sliding down the table – and they have lost top scorer Ashley Parrillon to Chorley, who have no game tomorrow.

Ramsbottom United and Barnoldswick Town are both battling for promotion from the North West Counties League – but they take a break from Premier Division action tomorrow.

They are in League Challenge Cup action with Ramsbottom going to Winsford, while Barnoldswick Town face AFC Blackpool in a tie that has been switched to the seaside after heavy rain left the Silentnight Stadium pitch in poor condition.

Bacup Borough go to Runcorn Linnets in the Challenge Cup, while there is leageue action for Padiham who entertain Glossop and Colne, who face Runcorn Town at the XLCR Stadium.

In the First Division Nelson are at Eccleshall while AFC Darwen head to Rochdale Town.
