A RIBBLE Valley hairdresser is hoping the French will be a cut above England in the Euros tonight.

The two sides meet at 5pm, at the Donbass Arena, Donetsk, Ukraine, as the Group D schedule gets under way.

Burnley fan Philippe Toubart, of Philippe’s Hairdressers, in Castle Street, Clitheroe, came to England in 1958.

He said: “I think we will definitely beat England.

“We have a better team and play better football.

“England has been messing about for a while trying to get a new manager. Then they get Hodgson and I don’t know if he is the right man for the job.

“I think France have a chance, but I wouldn’t put money on them winning the tournament.”

Meanwhile, Marseille supporter Jean Yves Dziki, marketing manager at Darwen metal fabrication firm WEC, predicts France to win 2-1.

However Jean, who moved to England from Burgundy six years ago, will miss tonight’s match as he is on a training course in Birmingham.

He said said: “It is a good thing I am not in the office on Monday I think.

“It is a big important game for both sides and we will have to throw everything at it.”
