CHORLEY boss Garry Flitcroft insists he is not concerned by back to back defeats ahead of tonight’s Conference North fixture at home to Leamington.

The Magpies were beaten 2-1 at Hednesford Town on Saturday to slip out of the play-off places, four days after going out of the FA Trophy at FC United.

But Flitcroft says the results must be put into perspective, with Chorley still standing seventh in their first season in Conference North.

“It’s frustrating but at the end of the day we’ve had two bad results,” he said. “We got knocked out of the Trophy when we could have got a result there and we could have got a result on Saturday.

“I’m not getting downbeat about it, we’ve had a great season so far, we’ve got a lot of games in hand and if we win two or three of those games we’re well up there in the play-off spots.

“If you look at our results over the last 16 or 17 games we’ve only had three defeats so we’re still in good nick.

“The lads know where we want to be and we’ve got a home game now where if the lads go and win that we’re back in contention.”

Chorley have another home game on Saturday against Gainsborough Trinity, who last week failed in an attempt to sign former X Factor and I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here star Jake Quickenden.

Dale Whitham recently passed the 200-appearance mark for Chorley.

“Dale has been rough, he was struggling with his chest at half time on Saturday but he carried on,” Flitcroft said.

“He’s been great for me, not just at Chorley but in my first season at Leigh when he was a young lad.

“He’s a player you want in your team. He’s a winner.”
