Hands off Austin, say Clarets

BURNLEY are prepared to fend off all advances for Charlie Austin after it was rumoured Championship rivals Blackpool were plotting a £4million bid for the striker.

There was speculation surrounding the future of Austin after his two goals helped to secure a 4-0 friendly win at Cheltenham Town on Saturday.

The former Swindon Town hotshot has previously been linked with newly promoted Huddersfield Town, as an option to replace Jordan Rhodes should their star man move on.

But having already lost last season’s top scorer Jay Rodriguez, in a record £7million deal with Premier League new boys Southampton, I understand Eddie Howe has no intention of shedding any more of his strikeforce.

Austin was the club’s leading league goalscorer with 16 last season, and the Clarets boss believes the 23-year-old has an even bigger year ahead of him at Turf Moor.

“Like all young players Charlie’s had a first full year at this level last year and I think that will have done him the world of good,” said Howe.

“He had experiences both good and bad with injuries and the goals were obviously a highlight for him. But I think his all-round game is improving all the time.

“It’s his hunger – when he plays well you can see it in him.”

Austin took his summer tally to four on Saturday, and was unlucky not to complete a hat-trick of headers after getting on the end of good deliveries from Junior Stanislas, Ross Wallace and Kieran Trippier.

“When you get good delivery in the box then I think he’s as good as anybody,” said Howe.

“We’ve got two really attacking full backs in Kieran and Joseph (Mills), and Ross and Junior can both cross excellently, so hopefully we can give him a good supply.

“He was excellent,” added Howe of Austin.

“His attitude and commitment to the cause, you wouldn’t know it was a pre-season friendly, he played it like a first team game and that’s what I like us to do.

“He looks fit, he looks good. I don’t want to put too much pressure on him but he looks good.”

Unfortuneatly, due to the club's behaviour in the past regarding accepting money for our footballers instead of digging our heels in, the club have accepted theses offers due to our financial situation. Clubs are now wise to this and despite the words of our ex-chairman who said that ; "Burnley were no longer a selling club. " when clubs have come knocking on the Turf Moor Door it has well and truely been opened and only shut when transfer fees have been accepted. Despite the sale of Jay Rodriguez for 7 million and despite the words coming out of the football club that Charlie Austin is going nowhere if clubs like Blackpool (who have used their money from the Premiership far better than us) come knocking and are willing to offer Charlie a better deal than what he is on now at the Turf it is my belief that he will go. It could be Fox all over again and this time Eddie will walk and who can blame him and if the fans have any sense they will do too. But according to season ticket sales they have already. I see no evidence from our two co-chairmen that the situation at Turf Moor will in the immediate future change with these two in charge. Never mind perhaps there is another ex- Bournemouth player who is out there who could replace Charlie but maybe not as they are all at Turf Moor already.

Another day another boring as **** comment from Tetley.

Run along, nobody cares about your anti-Burnley rhetoric on here.

Everyone knows you are a stupid Rovers inbred posing as a Clarets fan why do you continue to type all the above garbage?

Sad really

It's laughable that the Lancashire Telegraph are running this story, it can only be a matter of fiction, Karl Oyston would NEVER spend £4 Million on one player, it's just not in his make up, he is extremely tight with the purse strings and even in the Premier League only spent just over £1 Million on his record purchase, there is no way in a million years that in the second year of parachute payments he has suddenly decided to go mental with the cash.

Nothing to see here.

Anything above 40,000 and they should rip his arm off, bye bye mr austin, its only a matter of time when a much bigger club come knocking. I'm suprised at how much blackpool have expanded their ambitions and fan base as Burnley have shrunk taking on more bounemouth cast offs and sheep chasers.

Hello sheep chaser, don't forget the mint sauce, anyway I thought we had an understanding me and you? You know deep down there is only one me. I did used to go down the pond checking the lesser forms of life. Unfortunately last season we slipped and ended up in the same doop as you bottom feeders. So, who's gonna come out on top. Who will emerge like a lung fish after the monsoon? the sheep chasers or the Billy smarts Rovers? I'll alow you to put yer teeth back in to answer, after yer mates finished eating his dinner with them.

For you and I to have an understanding you would have to drag your intelligence level to a far greater capacity than the one you have now.

I missed putting your other alias KDG, alongside the others, so apologies for making you more conscious of your sad little introverted world.

By the way; your reference to chasing sheep has a tendency to border on the infantile so maybe it is time to go back to your Kindergarten classes and stop trying to mix with the big boys.

As a part of your growing up education I will enlighten your little mind in respect of sheep/lambs.

Now they have had some sun (not a lot) on their backs and grass in their bellies this is the best time of year to purchase English Lamb, you can't beat a shoulder of lamb cooked with a sprig rosemary and and a liberal coating of Dijon Mustard - Perfection.

Still you wouldn't appreciate this being raised on a diet of Venky Chicken sh**

I always knew you were an expert at lamb slamming.I must admit, we chicken chasers have faired less favourably than you sheep worriers in pre season. Now we can compare apples and pears. Let the best team win. Of that I have no problem either way, after all, this is the best opportunity you will have of seeing your team beat the once mighty Rovers before you join the other side. Unless you can manage another 34 years. Good luck for the new season, until you play us of course, and make sure you wear that lambswool blanket, when yer in yer wheelchair behind the goal. I wouldn't want you to catch a chill.

A quick message to other clarets who post on here.

The joker who posts as "claret me and you is actually non othe than the multifaceted shcitziod formerly known as "Tetleydrinker"

He's the guy who Fellow Claret "nottetleydrinker" named himself after.

He used to come on the burnley stories and lord it over us about B******ds superiority.

He also used to go on non football topics and slag the town, the people and anything to do with Burnley.

He popped up on some real happy, totally non-football, stories and soiled them with weird remarks.

As "tetley drinker" he was banned and tried a series of names before settling on Keep Darwen Green.

Yesterday he posted on the story headed - "Burnley poised to start bidding for Leeds midfielder Clayton" as "Claret me and you" and as usual made negative remarks pretending to be a claret and, as usual a nasty side-swipe at Barry Kilby.

I pointed out what the crack was to another poster who was falling for the bait and then when you read the posts further down you can see he forgets to log out as one of his names and starts to ramble as another person.

Ignore this clown who pretends to one of us and just wants to sh1t stir and whenever possible make snidey remarks about Mr, Kilby and Burnley's finances.

Coming from a B******d fan with all their woes you'd think he'd keep his head down but, given his use of many names and personas and the weird obsession with ALL THINGS Burnley I reckon he's best left alone and well and truly ignored.

NO NAY NEVER

The sad thing is that Tetley is actually mentally ill... He comes on here to get some kind of reaction as he has no friends in the real world...

I used to get frustrated by it and react but that only furthers his mental illness and gives him the reaction he is looking for. Its actually better to ignore him and let him find somewhere else to vent his repetative ranting...

Tetley get well soon pal :)
