MATCH of the Day pundit Alan Shearer said the Clarets gave Manchester United a 'tough game' at Turf Moor.

A moment of quality from Anthony Martial proved to be the difference between the two sides, with the forward powering a shot in off the underside of the bar early in the second half.

But Burnley had plenty of openings of their own during the afternoon and Shearer said Sean Dyche's side always provide teams with a true test.

"The one thing you know when you play Burnley either home or away is that you're in for a hell of a game and they gave United a tough game," Shearer said as the Match of the Day looked at the game.

While much of the talk was about United's decision making in the final third and the upcoming arrival of Alexis Sanchez, Shearer felt the goal was a 'piece of quality' that proved to be enough for Jose Mourinho's side.

"There was one piece of quality from Martial that proved to be decisive," he said. "They (Manchester United) get into so many good positions and it cost them more last season than it has this season.

"It's brilliant from Lukaku with the strength to bring him there, it's a good touch (from Martial) and the keeper's got absolutely no chance."
