ANDRE Gray believes Burnley will head to Arsenal on Sunday a much more confident side than they were a year ago.

The Clarets return to the Emirates Stadium 359 days after they were beaten 2-1 by the Gunners in the FA Cup fourth round.

At that point Sean Dyche’s side were six games unbeaten in the Championship on their way to promotion but a lot has changed in the 12 months since that 2-1 defeat.

“It’s scary. That was a year ago when we played them last and we did quite well then,” said Gray, who played the full game on January 30 last year in which Sam Vokes cancelled out Calum Chambers’ opener before Alexis Sanchez hit a second half winner for the Gunners.

“We were unfortunate not to get something from the game. We’ll go there with a lot more confidence than we did last year so we’re in for a good game.

“A lot has changed. We’ve become better, we went on an incredible unbeaten run after that and we got promoted. Now we’re 10th in the Premier League so I’m sure they’ll be wary of us.”

And Gray believes the Clarets can benefit from their Emirates experience of 2016 when they make the trip to the capital this weekend.

He added: “I’ve played there before so it’s not like it was last time when it was my first time being there. This time I’m sure I’ll be a lot more relaxed.

“I want to try and keep scoring and as a team we’ll be trying to get some away results now. Whether it’s me scoring or somebody else, as long as we get a result that’s the main thing.”

Gray grew up a Gunners fan, inspired by the feats of Arsene Wenger’s Invincibles side of 2003/04, but he admits his own burgeoning career has seen him become more distanced from Arsenal in recent years.

“I think you’ve got to look at the ‘Invincibles’ days with Henry and co,” said the 25-year-old striker.

“I’ve always followed them but it changes a lot when you become a professional footballer and you’re having to play. You become more of a follower than a supporter.”

Burnley travel to the capital having played an FA Cup replay in midweek, but Gray said: “It’s nothing for us because we’re fully equipped for that whether we’ve got injuries or not.

“We’re ready. It’s more in our favour than a lot of the Premier League teams because of the fitness levels that we have.”
