SEAN Dyche insists Burnley’s promotion this time around was ‘way better’ than two years ago.

Victory over QPR secured an immediate Premier League return for the Clarets with a game to spare.

Two years ago they secured promotion in front of their own fans at Turf Moor on Easter Monday with three games to go, and although it has been tighter this season Dyche believes it has been a better achievement.

“It's marvellous, way better (than last time). it's a different type of feeling.

“The first one was glorious cos it was all new, this one has been so much planning, redesigning, remodelling and reshuffling.

“And of course we've the used old fashioned 4-4-2 that Leicester are going to win the Premier League with which is ironic and strange because it's so old fashioned apparently.

“I'm just so delighted for the players, they've been outstanding.”

Dyche described promotion in 2013/14 as like as a ‘fairytale’, but after a year in the top flight he knew there was greater expectation this time around.

“Two years ago we were under the radar, the momentum and belief, it was like a fairytale.

"This one had to be designed, put together. We had to spend money, we lost big players and we had to find the balance to a group that could perform on a weekly basis in a very tough league.

"I'm pleased to say we've stuck to our task and what we believe in."

And now Dyche has set his sights on winning the title this season, which can be assured with a win at Charlton on Saturday, but he will enjoy promotion and another mark in Burnley’s history first.

“We'll be focused on Saturday I can assure you. We were runners-up last time don't forget.

"So we want to win it. That will be the focus. We'll go and win it, that's our job.

"Let's enjoy it now because this is another part of history for this club and history runs deep here."

Burnley’s squad will now enjoy a couple of days off while Dyche will return south to spend time with his family.

“I'll be in the car later, driving down the M6 with my kids and my wife," he said.

"I'll probably grab a coffee at McDonald's like I normally do.

"Two years ago people were staring at me like 'is he really in here getting a coffee', but I am normal, I do have a life, and that's what I'll be doing.

"The lads will get a couple of days off, no mistake, and if they have a couple of drams they deserve it.

"But come Thursday, or Wednesday, they'll be ready to train. We've got a chance to win the title now and we must be ready to take it."
