LEICESTER City boss Nigel Pearson admitted his side did not deserve to win at Burnley this afternoon – and then hit out at a journalist who asked if he had any advice for the Clarets.

Leicester bagged a fourth straight victory as Jamie Vardy’s goal gave them all three points in a crucial relegation clash at Turf Moor, just 59 seconds after Matt Taylor had missed a penalty for the Clarets.

But Pearson felt his team were not at their best and probably did not deserve to win.

“It wasn’t a great game, was it?” Pearson said.

“It was two sides who are in a situation where you want to win the game but there’s also that fear of losing.

“I can’t honestly sit here and say our performance was such that you would expect to win the game.

“But we defended with real spirit and the result’s more important than the performance.”

Leicester moved out of the relegation zone with victory over the Clarets.

Asked if he had any advice for Burnley, who now need a similar surge in form to avoid relegation, he said: “Listen, if you’re not going to ask proper questions, my job is not to give advice to people, it's to look after my own players and team.

“Regardless of what other people think I have a lot of respect for sides who are in a similar position to ourselves.

“I would not dream of giving advice to other people.

“Forgive me for saying that’s a very naive question on your part, in fact it’s an awful question.”
