DANNY Ings will not be joining Liverpool in this transfer window as their plan to sign him and loan him back would contravene Premier League rules.

Over the last 24 hours Ings has been linked with a £5million switch to Anfield, with the Reds loaning him back for the remainder of the season to help in Burnley's relegation battle.

But Clarets chief executive Lee Hoos said such a move would contravene Premier League rules, and therefore is not going to happen.

Burnley's stance on Ings has remained the same throughout the January transfer window, and Hoos said the club now considered this 'the end of the matter' as far as talk of a move before Monday's 11pm deadline is concerned.

“This type of move would violate Premier League rule V7 regarding transfers so simply cannot happen," said Hoos.

“This is the last time we will be making any comment regarding the player’s future.

“Over the course of the window, the player himself, Sean Dyche and the chairman have made it clear he won’t be going anywhere and we consider that the end of the matter.”
