EDDIE Howe has thanked loanee Josh McQuoid for his Clarets contribution.

The Northern Ireland forward returned to parent club Millwall after making the last appearance of his loan spell from the bench during Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to Blackpool.

Howe believes the forward, who he previously managed at Bournemouth, has benefited from his spell at Turf Moor. But it is not yet clear whether McQuoid will be returning on a permanent basis in the summer, with the 22-year-old rumoured to be lined up for a return to Bournemouth.

“I think he’s done well,” said Burnley boss Howe.

“He’s filled in the various positions, which is the job that we wanted him to do.

“He probably could have scored more than the one goal he got, but he can be really pleased with his contribution for us.

“We’ll wait and see what happens with him.

“He’s one that we like.

“He’s a really good team player – he thinks of the team ahead of himself.

“I’ve got nothing but good things to say about Josh so wherever his career takes him we’ll certainly keep an eye on him and wish him well.”

McQuoid made 17 appearances for the Clarets, scoring once in the 2-1 win at Doncaster Rovers on Easter Monday.

“I think personally he’s taken a great deal out of it in terms of what’s expected,” Howe added.
