THE SOCCER Six celebrity football tournament is to return to Turf Moor this summer.

Last year nearly 7,000 fans watched teams of pop starts, actors and celebrities compete for the title.

Anthony Fairclough, director of commercial affairs at Burnley FC, said: “We are obviously excited at the prospect of being the venue of choice by the Soccer Six organisers and we are pleased that we can build on the success of last year's massive event.

“The Soccer Six tournament is a great day out and I would say to anyone who missed last year to come to this year's event, as it promises to be bigger and better than before.”

Mark Abery, CEO and founder of Celebrity Soccer Six, added: “We are delighted to be back at Burnley Football Club for what will be the 30th Soccer Six event.

“Last year was a great success with Plan B, TOWIE and The Wanted among 160 celebrities doing battle for the coveted Soccer Six crown.

“In this anniversary year for us and with the Queen's Jubilee that same weekend we hope to make Soccer Six a double celebration and hope the good people of Burnley give us the same support as in 2011.”

The big day is Saturday June 2, with a gala night staged at Turf Moor the previous evening.

Ticket details will be announced shortly.
