BRIAN Jensen has vowed to put the worst injury of his career behind him and boost Burnley’s play-off push.
The goalkeeper has been sidelined with a groin injury since September, but made his comeback in the reserves 12 days ago.
And with three months of the season remaining, the 36-year-old is hoping to have his say in the Clarets’ quest to finish in the top six.
“No injury is good, but it was bad timing. I’d just got back into the team and it was just unfortunate,” said Jensen, who was forced off in the first half of their defeat at Peterborough United in September.
The Dane was ruled out for around eight weeks initially but suffered a setback.
In December, when he was closing in on a comeback, Jensen needed further treatment, including injections to help the muscle heal.
“I’ve never had an injury like this before that kept me from playing for so long.
“I broke my foot when I was at West Brom, but at the time I was on the bench, so this is the first time it’s happened - I’m 36 so I can’t complain really.
“I had a steroid injection in my groin to numb it and help it heal so there’s nothing long-term.
“I’ve had a load of them over my career though – I’m probably close to my 500th anniversary in terms of injections!
“Most are anaesthetic ones, and the odd cortisone.
“I’m more worried about getting arthritis in my hands and ankles in the future!”
Jensen is set to be on the bench tomorrow when Burnley face their former boss, Steve Cotterill, at Nottingham Forest.
But after coming through intensive training regimes in his bid to return to full fitness, he is ready to push for a return to the first team.
“I’ve done all the pre-season stuff for three weeks before playing in the reserves and I needed to get the green light from the specialist before going into full training,” he said.
“I’m feeling fine, sharp and I’m just happy to be back.”

After all his years in football, why is jensen still unable to kick the ball with both feet and why do the majority of his goal kicks go directly out of play. He needs to be much more commanding in the 6-yard box and learn to communicate with his defenders. He inspires no confidence at all. Grant is little better! It's time we developed or signed a decent keeper!
good to see the beast back in action, as i have little faith in grant- yes there has been a few clean sheets, but this was down to the rest of the defence getting their act together, grant lets too many soft ones in. Great also to see that danny lafferty is on trial i hope he makes the grade as it would do wonders in generating support in my neck of the woods- so come on danny. and by the by why not mention the play offs , no harm in having ambition
