BURNLEY'S ability to find a way back into games that they've gone behind in has helped them surge up the Premier League table, according to Jack Cork.

The Clarets have turned into the comeback kings this season and the point they rescued at Stoke City on Sunday was the 11th they've picked up after going behind this season.

That resilience is one of the major improvements this term compared to the two previous top flight campaigns under Sean Dyche. Last season Burnley fell behind 23 times and picked up just three draws, while in 2014/15 they collected five draws from the 24 games they went behind in.

But this season they have conceded first on 17 occasions but lost only 10 of them, winning twice and drawing five times.

"The second half is what we’re about this season, we’ve had periods in first halves where we’ve not been at our best but we always stay in there and we always know we can get something from the game," Cork said of the second half fightback at the Bet365 Stadium.

"It’s what we’re really good and really strong at, we don’t panic if we go a goal behind, we know we’ve always got a chance of getting back in the game."

The Clarets ability to find a way back into games and their turnaround in fortunes away from home have been the key factors in a campaign that sees them 13 points better off than last term with three games to go.

Only four of the 18 away league games have been lost this season, the same number as Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham, while only Manchester City (one away defeat) have a better record.

"That was the main thing at the start of the season, winning away from home and coming back from a goal and we’ve improved on both of those aspects," Cork said.

"We’ve done a lot of good things this season and I think those two will be what the manager is most pleased about."

Burnley now need just four points from their final three games to make absolutely certain of European football, although any slip up by Leicester City could reduce that requirement.

Despite cruising past the safety mark of 40 points the Clarets have continued to collect the victories and Cork believes the enjoyment of what could be a season that is difficult to repeat is driving the team on to a strong finish.

"We’re trying to (finish strongly), I think we’re lucky to know we’re in a good situation which you don’t get very often," he said.

"It’s one of those seasons we’re enjoying, you don’t get many seasons like this so we’ve got to enjoy it and keep pushing and see how far we can go because we might not get another chance as good as this."

Burnley's finish sees Turf Moor fixtures with Brighton and Bournemouth sandwiched either side of a trip to Arsenal.

"Two home games and a nice game at the Emirates for Arsene Wenger’s last home game, it’s a good three games to have to finish the season off," said Cork.

"Hopefully we can finish it in a positive way and enjoy what a good season it has been."
