OUR Clarets jury discuss the big issues at Turf Moor. This week they take a look at Kevin Long's form for Burnley this season.

MATT RIGGS

I have to admit, I have been surprised at how well he has done this season when called upon. I've often wondered what his ambitions are given he's been a bit part player for eight years but there must be something about him for different managers to give him new contracts.

I still think we need to sign another centre back from a numbers point of view but more than happy with Kevin Long filling in as when required or maybe even starting as there will be a greater need to rotate the side to balance our Premier League and Europa League campaigns next season.

ANDREW GREENWOOD

To be fair he’s hardly put a foot wrong when called upon. Obviously, we don’t want anyone to leave but if the worst was to happen, he’s proved he can be a worthy stand in.

Whether or not he can be a long term replacement remains to be seen but so far, so good.

He’s obviously rated by the Irish as he’s regularly picked even though he’s not been getting regular football with us.

AMER STANSFIELD-MUSHTAQ

I think he has done well and is learning all the time and that headed goal against Leicester City last weekend should give him even more confidence.

The unfortunate injury to Ben Mee will now give Long a mini opportunity to gain vital Premier League experience and therefore be ready next season to give our first choice centre halves some much needed competition in that area of the pitch and with the extra games that the Europa League would provide, he should get even more opportunities next season.
