CHARLIE Taylor believes he is finding his feet in the Premier League after a man of the match display against leaders Manchester City.

The 24-year-old hadn't played a minute of top flight football until he came on for the injured Stephen Ward in the win over Stoke City on December 12 that fired the Clarets into the top four.

Since then the former Leeds United man has filled in for the injured Ward and he's impressed at left-back, potentially giving Sean Dyche a headache when the Republic of Ireland man is fit again in the next couple of weeks.

It's been a baptism of fire for Taylor, who has faced Tottenham, Manchester United twice, Liverpool and Manchester City in his nine Premier League starts, but his starring performance in Saturday's lunchtime draw with Pep Guardiola's side suggested he is beginning to feel at home at the highest level.

"You want to test yourselves against the very best and that's what they are," Taylor said of his display against City.

“It’s the best league in the world and it’s going to take some time to get used to, but I’m finding my feet now.

“It’s not easy. You’re up against a world-class winger every week.

“There’s never an easy game but it’s where you want to be and what you want to be doing every week.”

Taylor has yet to taste victory when starting a Premier League game, with Burnley's last win coming against Stoke City when he made his top flight bow from the bench.

But the Clarets have taken five points from those nine games to remain in seventh in the league and the draw against runaway leaders City felt like more.

Burnley led in injury-time at Old Trafford on Boxing Day but had to settle for a point and then saw a draw disappear against Liverpool on New Year's Day when the Reds won it late on, so Taylor felt Saturday's late show was deserved.

“I think we were unlucky against Manchester United and conceded last minute against Liverpool when we could have got something out of it," he said.

“Again, we showed what we’re about and finally we got our just rewards.

“To keep it only to one goal and to be so solid was testament to us all. Everyone performed brilliantly, especially in the second half. We were probably the dominant side and more than matched the league leaders."

Burnley will look to finally land that elusive win at Swansea City on Saturday before the Clarets have a weekend off when the FA Cup action resumes.

"It would be nice to get that win, but nowhere is easy in the Premier League. A win before a weekend off would be brilliant," Taylor said.
