BURNLEY could be without James Tarkowski and Steven Defour for the trip to Newcastle as injuries continue to mount for the Clarets.

Tarkowski is described as 'touch and go' with a groin problem while Defour has seen as a specialist over a knee injury that is continuing to trouble him.

Dean Marney has also tweaked a medial ligament in his knee, but there is better news of Stephen Ward who trained with the rest of the squad for the first time on Monday while Chris Wood is out with the medial team.

"Defour seeing a specialist with a knock on his knee," Clarets boss Sean Dyche said.

"Tarky has a minor problem with his groin and is touch and go for this week, while Marney has tweaked a medial ligament, we don't think it's anything serious.

"Wardy had his first training session with us today and Woody’s making good progress on the grass with the physios."

Of Defour Dyche added: "He’s had something in his knee for a couple of weeks, and it’s something that it’s time to get looked at.

"We’ll find out more over the next few days."
