BURNLEY striker Ashley Barnes said the Clarets will quickly turn their focus back to the Premier League after their FA Cup exit.

Sean Dyche’s side were beaten 4-1 by quadruple chasing Manchester City on Saturday in the third round having led thanks to Barnes’ first half goal.

And while admitting that Burnley will look to learn from the cup clash, the former Brighton striker is already turning his attention to the clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday as the Clarets look to consolidate seventh place in the Premier League.

“We’re disappointed but it’s gone now and we have to concentrate back on the league and next week against Crystal Palace,” said Barnes.

“We’ve got to prepare for that now.”

Barnes now has four goals for the campaign, including strikes against both Manchester clubs and, while he was happy to score for the third time in the last four weeks, he was disappointed to exit the cup.

“It’s always nice when the ball hits the back of the net, especially against a club like this,” said Barnes of his goal at the Etihad.

“But that game’s gone now. I thought in the first half, especially, we did really well.

“We had a game plan and I think it worked in the first half. We disrupted them and got in behind them and had a few chances.

“But I think a 10-minute spell from their first goal killed us a little bit.

“We were on the back foot when that equaliser went in. We just switched off and they’ve gone on and got the victory.

“Obviously when they turned it on they were phenomenal.

“We will look at it from our side at see what we could have done better.”
