SEAN Dyche is hoping the Clarets’ latest England international can help influence players in deciding to move to Turf Moor in the future.

Jack Cork became the third Burnley player to win their first England cap under Dyche’s guidance in just 18 months, following in the footsteps of Tom Heaton and Michael Keane.

The rise of that trio to the Three Lions followed a spell of 42 years without Burnley having an England international at the club.

All three earned their England recognition having not been on the international radar before they moved to Turf Moor, with the club playing a huge role in their development on the pitch, a key feature of life at Burnley for Dyche.

“The development side of what we’ve done year on year has been pretty obvious. Players have developed and improved,” he said.

“I hope there’s some thought out there that this is what we do. Within that if Corky’s a good show of that then great.

“I think we’ve rubbed off on a few, I read a thing with Trips (Kieran Trippier) the other day who had nice words about his time here and working with the staff. It’s good to hear they’ve taken something from us with them.

“If me or my staff can help a player then that is a massive thing for me and that will be with me as long as anything in the game.”

Cork’s rise to England duty came after an impressive start to the Premier League for Burnley and Dyche is delighted with the way he’s settled in to the side.

The Burnley boss also insisted that the 28-year-old should be ‘proud’ of earning a senior Three Lions cap.

“He has come in open minded. It’s a different way of playing, a different challenge, and he’s adapted almost seamlessly and delivered some very, very high level performances, in a team that don’t always have it easy,” Dyche said.

“He’s prepared to do that, he can play but he can do the ugly side as well and work and grind and tackle.

“He should be very proud of himself and his family should be very proud of him. To play for your country at every level and now get that few minutes on the pitch, even if that is it, that’s outstanding.

“I didn’t realise he’d gone through every (England) age group from Under-16s. I think it’s tremendous for him and very good for us as a club.

“It’s another player recognised in the national side. We have gained more international appearances for our players for various countries but I think the England side is an important marker for clubs like us to have players in there.

“I think he’s deserving of it and his form this season has been excellent.”
