I don't believe it should be the top target given the start we've had but it's what everybody talks about and is still a good marker for survival, so the sooner we get there, the sooner we can look at new targets.

To be almost halfway to safety after 11 games does get you thinking what we could possibly achieve, though. No doubt the mantra remains "one game at a time," however, and rightly so.

I think aiming for 40 initially is fine. The sooner we get there the better and it doesn’t then stop us aiming higher once there. I know Stan Ternent always started by saying lets reach the target and see what happens. What you don’t want is to get to 40 points and seemingly take the foot off the gas like West Brom did last season but I’m sure Sean wouldn’t allow that to happen.

I think we can aim higher than the 40 points target we usually aim for at the start of a Premier League season.

We are now tough to beat for any team in this division and our results prove that. If we can keep hold of Sean Dyche and allow him to strengthen the squad in January there is no reason why we shouldn't be looking at a mid table or top half finish to the season so in my opinion.

With Dyche in charge until the end of the season and the form the team is currently showing we should aim high.
