JAMES Tarkowski believes Burnley are ‘building something quite special’ as he urged boss Sean Dyche to carry on achieving at Turf Moor.

Clarets chief Dyche has been in the spotlight in recent weeks after being heavily linked with the Leicester City and Everton jobs.

During the speculation he brought up his fifth anniversary in charge of Burnley, marking it with a 1-0 win over Newcastle before securing back-to-back one goal successes with the win at Southampton.

That left the Clarets seventh in the Premier League heading into the international break and given the success Dyche has brought to Turf Moor, Tarkowski isn’t surprised to see the 46-year-old linked with other clubs, but he believes there is more to come at Burnley.

“The gaffer has been terrific with the lads so it’s no surprise that other teams have been looking at him. We all want him to stay,” the former Brentford defender said of Dyche.

“We’re building something quite special, it’s a long process and to go from where we were five years ago the club is heading in the right direction and everybody wants to be a part of that.”

Tarkowski arrived in East Lancashire in January 2016, but even in his relatively short time at the club he has seen the impact Dyche has had on and off the pitch.

“I’ve only been here for two years and the gaffer hasn’t only contributed to the football side, it’s the community, the training ground, it’s everything,” he added.

“He’s put a lot of work in so we would like him to stay.”

Burnley have made light work of a difficult looking start to the season to cement themselves in seventh and while Tarkowski is one of several players earning plenty of plaudits for his performances, he insists it’s a collective effort that has pushed the Clarets on this season.

“People are very happy, the gaffer’s happy with the way things are going, the lads are very high in confidence and the lads are looking forward to the next game,” he said.

“It’s a shame that there’s a break now because we’re just getting in to a nice little run.

“The gaffer has played a part in it and the lads as well. Some of the staff that you don’t really see or hear of are all involved as well.

“We’re all coming together as one and going away to big teams and picking up points.”
