SEAN Dyche insists Burnley aren't being priced out of the market as he bids to strengthen his squad before the closure of the transfer window.

The Clarets have so far struggled to splash the cash since Michael Keane and Andre Gray's departures brought in £43million.

They have failed with bids for Leeds United striker Chris Wood and Hull City midfielder Sam Clucas, with reports their clubs are valuing both players at £20million.

Burnley also saw an £11.8million offer for Deportivo La Coruna striker Florin Andone rejected, with the La Liga outfit understood to be after at least £18million.

Dyche has two weeks left to add to his squad, with a possible five incomings before the transfer window shuts on August 31.

Asked if the club were being priced out of the market for players, he said: “Not necessarily. Certain situations are beyond our capabilities, we know that, so we tend to focus on the ones within our capabilities and see if we can get them done.

"There's a structure at the club that although it's that's hard to manage it's probably appropriate for this club, for the bigger picture and the future.

"We work in a market that we think is something we can do rather than worrying about something we can't do.

"As long as it's in what the chairman, the board, myself agree is appropriate for this club then there's no problem. Obviously some things go way beyond that, different clubs for different reasons.

"It's very difficult at times to find a healthy balance. It must be found so we continue to search to do that."

Burnley have been linked with a number of European targets recently. But while a bid has been lodged for Andone reported moves for PSV defender Nicolas Isimat-Mirin, Lille striker Nicolas de Preville and Lorient forward Majeed Waris are wide of the mark.

“I've made it clear that we're still looking to add to recruitment, the depth, particularly into the European market," Dyche said.

"Everyone's got different scouting systems with immediacy but ideally when you're looking to recruit you want months of work, not just some clips and word of mouth.

"It can take a year's work to make sure you're getting the right player, sometimes more. A lot of big clubs scouting since 19, at 21 they re-look, 22, etc etc.

"We haven't got that background and support. It's important when we do go into Europe we've got as much information as possible. There's certain situations we have got a lot of information on, certain situations we will look at."

While attempts to add to the ranks at Turf Moor are ongoing Burnley could yet end up empty handed, a situation that wouldn't unduly concern Dyche.

“I've got a squad here who I believe in," he said. "If we can get into a competition by adding players we will. If not, we'll be looking at what's here.

"With Andre going that's a great opportunity for someone else and then Vokesy scores two, he was our top scorer last year.

"Ideally we want to keep supporting the group and keep growing, if that doesn't happen we'll continue to work as we have done in the past with the players we've got. Continue doing everything we can to develop them as individuals and as a team."
