TENDAYI Darikwa has completed his move from Burnley to Nottingham Forest.

The 25-year-old was allowed to leave Turf Moor after the Clarets completed a £750,000 swoop for Stoke City's Phil Bardsley on Tuesday.

Darikwa had a medical at the City Ground on Tuesday afternoon before putting pen to paper on a four-year deal with his home town club.

Although the deal between the two clubs is undisclosed the Lancashire Telegraph understands that the initial fee is clsoe to £2million.

Darikwa joined the Clarets from League One Chesterfield for around £500,000 in the summer of 2015 and he started the 2015/16 season at right-back, with fellow summer recruit Matt Lowton out injured.

It was Darikwa's cross that set up Sam Vokes' goal on the opening day against Leeds United and he scored his first Championship goal against Reading.

But after 21 successive league starts he lost his place to Matt Lowton in December 2015 and has been unable to win it back since.

Although Darikwa has appeared in seven cup fixtures since then and appeared on the bench in the Premier League, he hadn't made a league appearance for the Clarets since the 1-0 defeat at Middlesbrough on December 15, 2015.

Darikwa could make his Forest debut on Saturday against his former club, with Burnley travelling to the City Ground for their latest pre-season friendly.
