BURNLEY Under-18s got their Generali Cee Cup campaign off to a winning start with a hard fought victory over hosts Sparta Prague.

The Clarets youngsters are taking part in the 12-man tournament, which is for under-19 sides and also includes Everton and Leicester City this summer.

Burnley opened the tournament against Sparta Prague this morning and withstood some pressure from the home side to claim a 1-0 victory, with first year scholar Michael Fowler netting the only goal of the game around 15 minutes from time.

Danny Cadamarteri's side are back in action at 9am tomorrow when they face Canadian side Prostars. Victory for Burnley would seal top spot in Group A and book a place in the semi-finals on Monday.

If the Clarets do top their group they will play the winners of Group D which includes Slavia Prague, Turkish side Altinordu and Romanian outfit Academia.
