FORMER Claret Jack Cork could be set for a return to Turf Moor, according to a report in the Daily Mirror.

Cork played 57 games for Burnley during a loan spell from Chelsea and has recently impressed for Swansea City.

But it is reported that Sean Dyche is close to tying up a £10million deal for the 28-year-old as he seeks to strengthen his midfield.

ANOTHER option in the centre of the pitch could be Stoke City man Glenn Whelan.

The Sun reports that Burnley are in talks with the Potters over a £2million deal for the Republic of Ireland international, having taken Jon Walters from the bet365 Stadium at the end of last week.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Whelan, 33, had been linked with a move to Aston Villa this summer but he could jump at the chance to stay in the Premier League with a switch to Turf Moor.

A REPLACEMENT for Michael Keane is also on Dyche's in-tray and the Daily Mail report that Sunderland's Lamina Kone is an option.

The 28-year-old was one of the few players to impress for the Black Cats last season as they finished bottom of the pile in the Premier League.

New Stadium of Light boss Simon Grayson could be tempted to sell the Ivory Coast international to raise funds this summer, which has placed the Clarets on alert.

CRYSTAL Palace midfielder James McArthur is another player linked with a move to Turf Moor.

The Daily Mail report that the 29-year-old could be surplus to requirement at Selhurst Park under new boss Frank de Boer.

That could see Burnley make their move for the Scotland international, although they could face competition from Aston Villa.

THE Clarets have already seen an £8million bid for Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga rejected, but they could now throw a player in with that offer according to The Sun.

Lancashire Telegraph:

The paper reports that right-back Tendayi Darikwa could be used a makeweight in any deal to convince Forest to part with their striker.

Darikwa is valued at around £2million and found opportunities limited last season, with all five of his appearances for Burnley coming in cup competitions.
