MICHAEL Jolley has hailed the impact Burnley boss Sean Dyche has had on his coaching career after the Clarets Under-23 boss left Turf Moor to take the manager's job at Swedish side AFC Eskilstuna.

Jolley has quit his role as Senior Professional Development Phase Coach to move to Scandinavia and take charge of the Swedish top flight side.

It will be the 40-year-old's first senior management role and ends a three-year stay in East Lancashire.

And Jolley was quick to thank Dyche and others at the club for their help during his Turf stay.

He said: “I am incredibly grateful to Sean Dyche, his staff, and all the people at Burnley FC for three fantastic years at this unique football club.

“The manager has been a huge influence on me and it has been a privilege to serve as a member of his staff.

“I think we have made some genuine progress in the last three years with regard to young players graduating to the first team, or playing league football on loan, and the club is perfectly placed to build on this with the achievement of Category 2.

“I have been fortunate to work with some fantastic young players, and some outstanding staff, notably my assistant Andy Farrell, during my time at Burnley.”

Jolley played a key role in helping Burnley's Academy upgrade to Category 2 status ahead of the new campaign under the Premier League’s Elite Player Performance Plan, which will see the U23 side play in a competitive league next season.

He also worked with Burnley's young professionals, helping to bring striker Dan Agyei and midfielder Aiden O'Neill through into the first team.

But he admitted the temptation of becoming a boss at senior level was too good to ignore.

He added: “The opportunity to become a manager in my own right is one that I simply could not turn down.

"It’s big challenge for me to test myself in a different football culture.

“I hope that I can apply some of the lessons I have learnt from working here at Burnley in the Swedish Premier League.”

Jolley, who holds the Uefa Pro Licence, will have his work cut out at Eskilstuna who are currently bottom of Sweden's top division.

The club, who won promotion last year, have yet to win a game, losing four and a drawing one of their opening five fixtures.

The Swedish league is currently on a mid-season break and Jolley's first game in charge is set to be a trip to league leaders Malmo on July 1.

Jolley's assistant at Burnley, Andy Farrell, remains at the club and the Clarets hope to announce a replacement for the departing coach soon.
