SEAN Dyche has confirmed Burnley remain in talks with George Boyd to try and extend the winger's stay at Turf Moor.

The 31-year-old is out of contract this summer and is yet to agree new terms, with the length of any new contract a sticking point.

The Lancashire Telegraph understands Boyd has been offered a new one-year deal, with an option for an extra year, but he is after a two-year contract.

That could leave the door open for Boyd to depart Turf Moor this summer, with Aston Villa understood to be keen on signing him as a free agent.

But Dyche said he was still hopeful of agreeing a deal with the former Hull City man, who will make his 130th appearance for the Clarets against West Brom tomorrow.

"There’s hope with all these situations," he said. "We speak to them, they’re all in the knowledge of where we are and what it is, but it always takes everyone to agree.

"He’s another player who has done very well here, if we didn’t want to keep him we wouldn’t be talking to him."

Dyche said veteran goalkeeper Paul Robinson could also extend his stay at the club.

The 37-year-old is also out-of-contract in the summer, but Dyche said talks will take place soon, with the former England stopper keen to carry on playing.

"(It's) more on his injuries and his thirst to carry on, which I think is good by the way, I think he wants to carry on," Dyche said of talks with Robinson.

"We’ve already talked to him but over the summer that will ramp up a little bit."
