SAM Vokes is determined to finish the season on a high this weekend as the Clarets close a memorable Premier League campaign.

Burnley welcome West Ham to Turf Moor on Sunday looking for a 12th win of the campaign, and an 11th at home.

Turf Moor will be in party mood with the Clarets' place in next season's Premier League now confirmed and Burnley are looking forward to back-to-back top flight seasons for the first time since the mid-1970s.

Victory over the Hammers could see Burnley finish as high as 12th in the league table and in-form Vokes wants to sign off the 2016/17 season in style against Slaven Bilic's side.

"The fans will be celebrating at the weekend and it'll be nice to get a good result at home to finish the season off and end on a high," the 27-year-old said.

"We want to finish as high as possible. That was our goal going in to the week. We've obviously lost a game (at Bournemouth) but with the last game coming up that's still our goal."

Vokes continued his own hot streak in front of goal against the Cherries last weekend and it looked like his header seven minutes from time at the Vitality Stadium was going to secure Burnley a point.

That would have confirmed the Clarets safety on points as well as goal difference, but it wasn't to be as Josh King popped up with a late winner for the hosts.

Instead Burnley had to wait 24 hours for confirmation of safety when Hull City were relegated after defeat at Crystal Palace, but Vokes admitted failure to see the game out on the south coast had been frustrating.

"It was bitter-sweet and very frustrating in the end," he said. "When you get yourself back to 1-1 you want to go on and get a good point away from home so to concede straight away was disappointing really.

"It was nice to get on the scoresheet. The way the game panned out the goal was coming because we were knocking on the door in the second half. It was a great ball in by Johann and I got my head on it so it was nice to level. But when we got back to the dressing room there was that frustration of not sealing the deal.

"It's good for the boys to get on the scoresheet and I'm always happy to do it.

"It was frustrating really because we'd been talking all week about finishing the job off and doing it in a good manner. That's behind us now and we'll move on to West Ham."
