JOEY Barton's Football Association commission hearing over misconduct charges relating to betting offences is taking place today (Friday).

The Burnley midfielder is set to find out what punishment he will face over the charges, with a lengthy ban likely.

But Clarets chief Sean Dyche said it was a case of 'wait and see' on whether Barton will be available for Burnley at any point again this season.

"We'll just have to wait and see what comes out of it," he said of the hearing.

"It's something that is ongoing between himself, his team and the FA. We'll have to wait and see what comes of that."

The 34-year-old midfielder was charged by the FA in December for placing 1,260 bets over a 10-year period.

The FA says he broke rules by betting on "football matches or competitions" between 26 March 2006 and 13 May 2016.

He was given an extension until January 31 to respond and at that point he accepted the charge but requested a personal hearing.

That was initially scheduled for March 8 but was postponed due to the FA's chief investigator being ill.
