SEAN Dyche wants all his players to strive for personal glory after Matt Lowton became the latest Burnley star to speak of his international ambitions.

With Michael Keane following Tom Heaton into the England set-up both Ben Mee and Lowton have spoken of their desire to force their way into Three Lions contention.

Gareth Southgate has watched the Clarets on several occasions this season and both Mee and Lowton have impressed for Dyche's side.

Keane's elevation to England duty and his first two caps for his country meant he was the latest member of the Burnley squad to progress to international football, with Dyche now regularly having to contend with seven or eight of his squad being away during the international breaks.

But he would be happy for that number to continue to rise and when asked about Lowton's expressed desire to represent England, Dyche said: "I want all of our players to have that mentality.

"They have got to strive for the team, that is a given, but they have got to strive for themselves as individuals. As long as the mixture between their individual goals mixes with a team ethic, that is exactly what you want.

"If the fuel is to be recognised by England, fantastic. Each player will have a different fuel to motivate themselves. For some it is just winning, for some it might be financial. There are all sorts of different ways. I don't know any of them. They are all free to choose whatever they do, as long as it is part of the team ethic."

Former Aston Villa right-back Lowton recently capped his form this season by penning a new three-year deal, and of his Three Lions' hopes he said: "I’ve always dreamed of playing for my country, which I think every footballer does. You can only play well week in, week out, and hopefully the right people are watching."

The 27-year-old has missed just two Premier League games for the Clarets this season.

When he signed his new deal he declared himself as in the form of his line as he continues to impress at Turf Moor, having joined the club ahead of the Championship-winning 2015/16 campaign.

Injury meant he started that season behind Tendayi Darikwa in the pecking order before forcing his way into the team and he has held off the challenge of Liverpool loanee Jon Flanagan this season.

"I think he’s grown with the side this season," Dyche said. "He came out of Villa and unfortunately got injured. He had to wait.

"We changed it over at New Year and the change was well documented with our (unbeaten) run. He played a part in that.

"Then pre-season he started slowly, getting to grips with the division but I think he has got stronger and stronger as the season has gone on. We're happy he agreed to stay with us."
