MICHAEL Keane said he had seen dreams come true over the last week after he followed his England debut in a friendly in Germany with a first appearance for the Three Lions at Wembley.

The 24-year-old Burnley defender started in a back three in Dortmund, but on Sunday night he was alongside John Stones in a back four as England beat Lithuania 2-0 in a World Cup qualifier.

Keane played every minute of England's two games over the week and he said: "It's been a dream of mine to play at Wembley, I've had a few come true this week, so it's been a brilliant week for me.

"It's an unbelievable feeling, words can't describe it. I've been to Wembley a few times to watch finals but to play here for the first time and do it for your country is an incredible moment."

Jermain Defoe and Jamie Vardy scored the goals for England as Gareth Southgate's side stayed on course to qualify for Russia in 2018.

Keane felt the Three Lions could have played better at Wembley, but he was particularly happy with his passing, a trait that has earned rave reviews this week.

"I thought we could have played better as a team, we could have been more fluid but they made it difficult for us and they were hard to break down, in the end it's a good result and a clean sheet," he said.

"I feel like my passing has been good this week, I've been trying to play balls in between the lines to get us going and I made a few switches of play as well.

"We looked at how we could affect them and I'm glad I managed to do that."

Southgate moved from a back three in Germany to a back four at Wembley and Keane said the boss had made it clear he wanted England to be flexible.

But he said he is also determined to give the team a clear identity that the fans can get behind.

"I think he wants to make the fans proud of us, the way we play," Keane said of Southgate's messages to the players.

"We have unbelievable support and we want to give them something back with the way we play, with developing an identity of how we want to play."

After his dream week Keane returns to Burnley now ahead of the Clarets Turf Moor double header with Tottenham and Stoke City next week.

Burnley are eight points clear of safety with nine games to go and Keane is aiming to keep his foot on the gas when he returns to club duty.

"I just want to kick on," he said. "I'll go back to Burnley full of confidence. All I can do is keep doing what I'm doing, I want to keep learning, keep improving every day.

"I'll keep working hard, hopefully I'll do well with Burnley, we'll get some wins pretty soon and hopefully meet up again in the summer and get some more game time."
