BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche believes the expectation from the Stadium of Light crowd tomorrow will be on Sunderland adding to Burnley's away day misery.

The Clarets will look for a first away win of the campaign in the north east with the Black Cats bottom of the Premier League table.

But Dyche believes Burnley's winless run away from Turf Moor will pile the expectation from the home fans on David Moyes' side, who are in desperate need of three points to boost their own survival bid.

And Dyche is adamant he is not playing mind games to ramp up the pressure on the opposition.

"There’ll be big expectation at their place this weekend, because their fans will see it as ‘we’ve got to beat them’ because we haven’t won an away game," Dyche said.

"I’ve said that over the last few weeks. I said that last week, and there were people talking about mind games. They weren’t mind games.

"I was trying to think how fans think, and the expectation around that area. I was going to use the word freedom, but I don’t think we’ve been tight [as in tense] in away games."

Burnley have been much improved on the road in recent weeks and of their seven defeats in Premier League away games since mid-December every one of them has been by a single goal.

They were lacklustre in defeat at Swansea, despite almost nicking a point, but Dyche said he had been happy with his side's approach in recent weeks despite continuing to suffer disappointment away from home.

But he admits his team have to find a way to get that first win on the road, however they end up achieving that.

"I think we came a little bit off it against Swansea," he said. "We didn’t play as well there, but generally speaking, there’s not been any feeling other than: Get on with the game, get on with the next challenge.

"And I’ve been really pleased with that from the team, but we haven’t got the points. So however it comes round, we’ve got to go and win a game away from home."
