HULL City winger Kamil Grosicki has admitted he was 'disappointed' that a summer move to Burnley fell through at the 11th hour.

The Clarets had agreed a fee with Grosicki's French club Rennes on deadline day in August and the winger jetted into Manchester Airport from international duty to finalise the deal, but the move fell through in the closing minutes of deadline day.

Burnley chairman Mike Garlick, writing in his programme notes for the next home game, said: “Sean (Dyche), Dave Baldwin and I decided not to sign a winger from Poland right at the death, due to circumstances that we felt could have been potentially detrimental to the overall team spirit of our playing squad."

Grosicki had to remain with Ligue 1 outfit Rennes for the first half of the season but he finally got his move to the Premier League in January when the Tigers came calling.

Today the 28-year-old is set for his third start for the club against the side he almost signed for in the summer, and while he was frustrated to see that move collapse, he always felt another chance to move to the Premier League would come.

"Both teams couldn't come to an agreement, so it didn't happen," Grosicki said of Burnley's move for him.

"I was a bit disappointed but I knew a new contract would come and I'm happy to get my chance here (at Hull).

"People around the world are very interested in the Premier League and I always wanted to play here. I have watched Premier League players since I was a little boy and I always wanted to be one of them. "Playing against teams such as Manchester United and Liverpool is something I can be proud of. Hull City are very important for me now and I'm happy to be playing here."

Grosicki is now aiming to keep Hull in the Premier League this season.

"That's why I came here - to help them stay in the Premier League and I really believe we can do it," he said. "They spent a lot of money on me, so I can help them, but I don't feel any pressure.

"I just go out and play matches. I've had two hard opening games and soon the Premier League will know me."
