BURNLEY'S never-say-die attitude will serve them well in the remainder of the Premier League season, according to centre back Michael Keane.

The Clarets almost summoned up more late drama on Saturday, coming close to salvaging the most unlikely of points at Watford.

Ashley Barnes' 78th minute penalty was the 11th time this season they have scored in the final 20 minutes of a game and the sixth time in their last seven Premier League outings they have struck in the 70th minute or beyond.

Many of those goals have proved vital, with Everton, Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough, Southampton and Leicester City all beaten late on at Turf Moor this term, and while Barnes' fourth goal of the season was only a consolation in the end, Keane believes the approach will serve his side well in the top flight.

"We never give up and that's the attitude that you need at this level," the 24-year-old said. "No matter what goes against you, you've just got to keep going.

"It could quite easily have been a long day for us, being 2-0 down with 10 men, it could've been four or five if we weren't on it mentally, so we've shown how strong we are as a group and we'll fight until the end every time we step on that pitch."

Burnley fell to a 10th away league defeat of the campaign at Vicarage Road after Jeff Hendrick's sixth minute red card had left them on the back foot.

But there was a sense of pride at the way the Clarets clawed their way back into the game.

"The manager told us at the end how proud he was of the performance," said Keane.

"I feel that if we'd have kept 11 men on the pitch and played like that we would've got something.

"Even after (the goal) we had a few chances to score and it didn't feel like we had a man less than them, especially in the second half. I'm really proud of the team.

"We've just got to keep taking the positives and take them in to the next away game. If we keep playing like that then we'll get something eventually.

"We're very proud but very disappointed that we didn't pick anything up.

"It felt like it was a game that we were going to get something from, confidence was high after a good run of results and we've been playing really well, even away from home. We'll just move on to the next one."

After Sunday's Turf Moor test against league leaders Chelsea the Clarets face a run of away games against relegation battlers Hull, Swansea and Sunderland and Keane is sure they can pick something up from those games to improve on a disappointing away record.

"It is coming," he said of that first win. "We've been playing well for quite a while away from home and we've got a few coming up in a row now so we'll look to pick something up then."
