BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche hailed his side's performance after they made light of the absence of last season’s top goalscorer Andre Gray to record a second Premier League win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Watford.

This was the first of four games Gray will miss following his ban for historical homophobic social media posts but the Clarets didn’t miss him as they swatted the Hornets aside.

Sean Dyche’s side produced their most complete performance of the season to cruise to victory, as Jeff Hendrick and Michael Keane scored the goals to move them onto seven points after six games.

"We've never lacked grit and determination and had the base of a performance," said Dyche who played Sam Vokes in the lone striker role.

"I like to play 4-4-2 and attack teams but it was the right side to get a performance. Whatever shape we play we need energy and pressing and tonight there were moments of quality. If you keep clean sheets you'll have a chance in games.

"Last time around in the Premier League we didn't concede many so we believe there's good organisation in the team and we need to be productive at the top end of the pitch. We've made a really solid start. We have added to the squad, we would have liked more but it's a tough market."
