JOHANN Berg Gudmundsson has ‘no worries’ about Burnley’s ability to survive in the Premier League.

The Iceland international has seen enough from his new teammates in the first five top flight games of the season to suggest the Clarets can survive, adding that he believes Burnley ‘belong’ at the highest level.

Gudmundsson made his first Premier League start in the 1-1 draw with Hull City and he is relishing life at the top, having completed a £2.5million move from Charlton, who were relegated to League One at the end of last season, in the summer.

Despite the step up the winger isn’t feeling the pressure, and he’s confident Sean Dyche’s side have what it takes to beat the drop.

“You can look at it as pressure but also enjoy being in the Premier League and try and not play under and feel pressure,” he said. “Most people don’t expect much from Burnley but we know what we’re about, our aim is to stay in the league and I’m confident we can do that.

“The season is young, we’ve only played five games, so there’s a lot of games left but we’ve shown we belong in this league and our main goal is staying up. There’s a lot of quality in this team and I’ve no worries.”

The Clarets narrowly missed out on a second league win of the season against Hull last time out, with Robert Snodgrass’ 95th-minute free-kick salvaging a point for the Tigers.

Gudmundsson added: “It’s a tough league, the toughest league in the world, the talent is unbelievable as we’ve seen already.

“But we showed against Liverpool we belong and four points is not too bad. After that Hull game you want to have a few more, but that’s life in the Premier League.

“You need to be concentrating for 95 minutes or you get punished. We’re coming to terms with that and I think we’ll be fine.” The 25-year-old is confident Burnley can give Watford a game at Turf Moor on Monday night.

“They’re going to have a lot of confidence after beating Manchester United and they play a different system, 3-5-2, not a lot of teams play that, so we have to adjust to that but our home form has been quite good and it’s going to be tough for them to come to our place,” he said.
