SEAN Dyche insists the price tag on members of his squad isn’t a consideration when it comes to picking his starting XI.

Record signing Jeff Hendrick, having come on as a substitute against Hull City, is in contention for a first start in Burnley colours at Leicester City on Saturday.

But while the Republic of Ireland international may win a place alongside Steven Defour in the Clarets midfield, Dyche said the fee paid for the 24-year-old had no relevance in his decision.

“The money's not relevant, I don't pick sides of players because of money,” he said. “That's certainly not in my thinking.

“The market is relevant in value and worth so I don't worry about the money, it's more about the players being right, being ready, understanding how we play, what we want from them, to give them the best chance of actually performing. It's about the players for me.

“They need to go out and perform knowing what's required and what the team needs to win a game. That will adjust over time.”

Striker Ashley Barnes remains an absentee for the Clarets at the King Power Stadium as he battles to recover from a hamstring problem picked up in the win over Bradford City in pre-season.

“Barnsey's still got a niggling injury,” said Dyche. “It's the final stages but just getting rid of the final moment of pain.

“He's out of the grass doing some work, he just can't clear it up, it's getting closer, we hope.”
