SAM Vokes has pleaded with his international boss Chris Coleman to snub the advances of Hull City and stay with Wales.

The Tigers, who were promoted to the Premier League with Burnley last summer, were yesterday refused permission to speak to Coleman by the Football Association of Wales (FAW).

Hull are searching for a new boss after Steve Bruce quit last week following a breakdown in his relationship with vice-chairman Ehab Allam, but it looks like they will have to move on from Coleman with the FAW saying everybody is ‘fully focused’ on the start of the World Cup qualifying campaign in September.

Coleman led Wales to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 and Vokes believes the former Fulham boss has played a key role in the national team’s success this summer.

“He’s been a massive part of what we’re about,” said Vokes, who scored in the quarter-final win over Belgium.

“When he first came in it was a tough time after Gary (Speed) died. It was a tough couple of years but he got us through that and we have come out the other side. You see the achievement we had this summer and that was a massive part of what the gaffer and the coaching staff have been doing with us off the field.

“I would love him to stay because a lot of our success comes down to what he has done.”

Coleman signed a new two-year deal with the FAW before the start of Euro 2016 that will take him through to the end of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

But Wales’ remarkable run to the last four in France has seen him attract plenty of plaudits and Vokes admitted it was no surprise to see Coleman linked with club jobs in the Premier League.

“Not at all,” said the Clarets striker. “He has brought us from probably the worst part of our Welsh playing days to a semi-final, so you can see why clubs are looking at him and why he’s been popular but we’d love to keep him.”

Meanwhile, Vokes’ club captain Tom Heaton heard from new England boss Sam Allardyce for the first time yesterday.

The former Sunderland chief will name his first Three Lions squad on the last weekend in August ahead of the first World Cup qualifier in Slovakia on September 4.

Heaton was a part of Roy Hodgson’s 23-man squad for Euro 2016, acting as third choice goalkeeper behind Joe Hart and Fraser Forster.

And as Allardyce settles into the role at St George’s Park he sent an email to all members of that squad yesterday, including Heaton, who won his first England cap against Australia in the build-up to the tournament.

“He sent a brief email today (Tuesday) to say hello and introduce himself,” said Heaton. “I’m sure he’s got a lot on but that arrived this morning which was fantastic. “
