HEARTS have confirmed their interest in Burnley goalkeeper Matt Gilks.

The 33-year-old is out of contract at Turf Moor this summer and is expected to leave the club after two years.

He has dropped to third choice between the posts after the arrival of Paul Robinson earlier this year, with the former England stopper coming in as Gilks was out injured at the time.

He has played just two times for the Clarets in his two seasons at the club, both in the League Cup, and has visited Hearts' training ground this week.

"He is one that we have looked at, as we have looked at several players. It is that time of year," said Robbie Neilson, head coach of the Scottish Premier League club.

"Obviously you can't sign anybody until June 9 so we are just looking.

"He just came up to have a look and a chat as we have done with a few players. We will see how things progress over the next few weeks with several of our targets."

Gilks has three Scotland caps to his name and played 18 times in the Premier League for Blackpool.

The Rochdale-born stopper started his career with his home town club and has over 400 domestic games to his name.
