It said: "The Charlton Athletic fans who comprise the Coaltion Against Roland Duchatelet (CARD) congratulate Burnley on winning promotion back to the Premier League on Monday evening.

"As the organisers of all the main protests seen at The Valley in recent months, we’ve noted the concern expressed by Burnley fans and others about the possibility of Saturday’s match at Charlton being abandoned and the potential impact on the top of the Championship table.

"We’re also aware that this weekend’s game will be subject to an unusually large police presence and that there is potential for confrontation between Charlton fans and the authorities on the one hand, and between rival supporters on the other.

"CARD is therefore making its position clear in advance that we have no intention of preventing the completion of this match and neither will we be encouraging others to do so.

"This does not mean that we will not be protesting on the day. We will. But we will respect the integrity of the competition and the ambitions of the visiting club.

"Given the level of anger about the situation at The Valley, we cannot speak for every Charlton supporter on this and we make no claim to do so. However, our aim is to destroy the regime wrecking our club, not the game itself.

"We hope this statement offers some reassurance to fans of Burnley, and indeed Brighton & Hove Albion and Middlesbrough, ahead of what we recognise to be an important weekend for their clubs."
