BURNLEY stretched their unbeaten run to eight games but can consider this two points dropped.
Andre Gray missed two chances from six yards and had a second half penalty saved as the Clarets were held to a goalless draw at Reading.
Reading had plenty of possession in the first half and looked capable of being a threat on the counter but ultimately offered little.
The only save Tom Heaton had to make was diving to meet a downwards header from Lucas Piazon in the first half.
Even earlier than that, though, Gray might have given Burnley a quickfire lead. The striker got the ball in between centre halves Paul McShane and Jake Cooper but side footed over from six yards.
It was a sign of things to come as, in the second half, Gray turned a brilliant cross by Matt Lowton agonisingly wide.
The Clarets thought they had made a breakthrough when Gray was brought down after rounding goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi and won a penalty.
Reading were furious at the decision, and their delaying tactics paid off when Al-Habsi guessed the right way and saved from Gray.
