IT’S a truly pivotal match coming up at Turf Moor on Saturday when table-toppers Hull City come to town.

In charge of the flying tigers is Steve Bruce, who I consider one of the best managers in the Championship along with our very own Sean Dyche, of course.

Having scored no less than four goals in three of our last four home games, we must surely remain in the mood for more.

As clinical as Hull were at the KC stadium in their 3-0 win against us on Boxing Day, we were certainly nowhere near our best that game and now have the opportunity to remedy that rare lapse.

It was a great chance to have another taste of a Premier League set-up both on and off the pitch at Arsenal on Saturday in our narrow 2-1 defeat in the FA Cup.

Days like that are the glittering prize on offer at the end of the season, and the occasion will surely have whetted the appetite for more of the same for everyone connected with Burnley.

The Clarets played well against a multi-talented side who at times looked like they had a piece of elastic attached from their boots to the ball such was their level of retention.

Yet Burnley made a decent fist of it, scoring a superbly crafted goal from a rejuvenated Sam Vokes to make Arsenal work hard for their victory.

But there’s times when even the most partisan supporter has to hold their hands up and say their opponents scored two beauties to win the tie.

And that was certainly the case for the Gunners, with excellent strikes from Calum Chambers and Alexis Sanchez ultimately proving the difference.

We continued our league programme at Hillsborough on a cold, wet Tuesday night against a Sheffield Wednesday side smarting from a shock cup knockout at Shrewsbury.

Burnley gained a creditable 1-1 draw against a team hoping to gain ground on them so it goes down as a positive result , even though only Vokes will know how he missed that chance at the far post from two yards out 20 minutes from time.

Nevertheless, he has the chance to put that right this weekend against a Hull side who are top of the table.
