BURNLEY midfielder Scott Arfield has welcomed the signing of James Tarkowski after the central defender signed a three-and-a-half year deal at Turf Moor.
Tarkowski, Burnley's main transfer target throughout this window, has signed from Brentford for a fee believed to be £3million plus add-ons.
And Arfield is delighted to see the squad strengthened even further with the 23-year-old's arrival, having played against him in League One when Arfield was at Huddersfield and Mancunian Tarkowski was still at Oldham.
"It's a great signing. It's great news," said Arfield.
"He's a good player, a really good player. I played against him in League One when he was at Oldham and I was at Huddersfield. He's a top player. We've got strength in depth everywhere now."
